Why we built Prima.
Two decades inside professional dance companies made the inefficiencies impossible to ignore. Constant schedule updates on printed paper pinned to the bulletin board. Missed casting changes. Endless emails and group chats trying to keep everyone on the same page.
Dance has evolved for centuries.
The way it's run hasn't.
Prima is the tool we wish had existed — built specifically for the way dance companies actually work, and so seamless it disappears into the rhythm of the day.
The team
Stef
Co-founder
Stef trained at Canada's National Ballet School and danced professionally with The Stuttgart Ballet and Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo.
Recovering from injury between companies, he spent a year in Stuttgart's production management office — and that's where he first saw the systems gap up close.
With a renewed involvement in dance, he brings a dancer's precision and a deep interest in technology to the legacy institutions he came up in.
Doug
Co-founder
Doug graduated from McGill with a heavy focus on computer programming, and moved on quickly to become Senior Programmer & Systems Analyst at Sun Life assurance company.
Receiving recognition for his technical ability, he chose to focus on management as West Coast Regional Manager of ESRI, a leading global software company.
Software engineering is his craft and his passion — and building Prima into something simple and powerful is exactly the kind of problem he loves to solve.
